Diabetic Foot Care
Diabetes is one of Australia’s growing chronic health conditions that can cause severe problems in the feet. There are many complex neurological, cardiovascular and musculoskeletal changes.
At Thornleigh Podiatry we provide assessment of these changes and we can do this at your request, or when your GP refers you in for one. We provide you and your GP with a copy of this assessment. It provides a base line, or a check, for any changes in your circulation or sensation.
We also provide management of conditions like corns, callus and ingrown nails that can become a much larger issue in the diabetic foot. We can provide education on your foot and how to self manage.
Early intervention also plays a part in preventing problems getting out of control. We see many diabetics, both type 1 and 2. You may be eligible for an Enhance Primary Care plan from your GP, or your health fund may provide rebates for these appointments.
