Ingrown Nails

Our podiatrists all have an interest in the management of painful ingrown nails, from conservative treatment options involving nail cutting, to the surgical approaches that have a minimal chance of reoccurrence.

Ingrown’s will often be classed into 3 stages each with a preferred treatment option:

Stage 1 – reddening, mild swelling and slight pain to touch – responds well to conservative management.

Stage 2 – increase in swelling, pain and redness. Often has pus present.

Stage 3 – further increase in pain, swelling and redness. Bleeding, pus and shiny red fold of tissue over the nail. These respond well to antibiotics and a wedge resection procedure.

The sooner we see you from the development of symptoms, the less involved the treatment is. Let us assess, develop a specific treatment plan for you and then treat your painful ingrown.
