What is Marigold Therapy?

Marigold Therapy is a highly effective treatment for all foot problems that utilizes a combination of plant based medication and traditional podiatric techniques. It's a topical treatment that works exceptionally well to treat plantar warts. It is pain free, quick acting and importantly is suitable for all clients, particularly the young and at risk categories for whom a surgical procedure is contra-indicated.

There are two marigold species, Tagetes and Calendula, that have been used for centuries as herbal remedies for various ailments. The keratolytic and anti-inflammatory properties of Tagetes in the treatment of verrucae (Plantar Warts) and hyperkeratotic lesions have been well documented in the literature. Marigold therapy has been used for over 40 years in the United Kingdom and has been evaluated by numerous randomized, double blind, placebo controlled studies for various issues on the lower extremity.

Thornleigh Podiatry is lucky to have the world-renowned Dr Tariq Khan, one of the Marigold Therapy founders, seeing Clients in our rooms. Tariq's research focuses on evaluating the compounds within the marigold flower family. Tariq has published work with renowned dermatologists in London and has been running the wart clinic within The Dermatology department of the Royal London Hospital since 1997.
